Inter, Beppe Marotta has confidence in Simone Inzaghi
Beppe Marotta’s words
Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta spoke to Sky: “What was Inzaghi’s merit in the victory in Lisbon, given that he also suffered several attacks? Certainly, he had, and has, an important role in these results that, all things considered, are perhaps surprising results for what we imagine. It was, then, the Champions League round, which was almost prohibitive in terms of getting through the round of 16 and getting to the quarters. I would say that the coach, for better or worse, is always of great importance. Beyond the group, he is the one who determines the choices of the players, the one who charges the players, the one who organizes the team. So, the merits are his. The task of the societies is to support him, and we do that on a daily basis with our presence, being very close to him. This is what we have to do. Otherwise, he did what he had to do and he is doing it in the best way. Then, it is clear that the role of the coach is easily exposed to criticism. However, one must also see where these criticisms come from. Coaches are quite tempered, they are professionals who have depth and, therefore, they also have to catalog where the criticism comes from.”
Market Chapter: “I can say that Ausilio’s activity, in this period, is the activity of having contacts, of going around and, therefore, it seems to me that it falls a bit within what are the normal activities of a sporting director. It is right for him to make consultations, to make comparisons, in order to have important ideas, at the time when we sit around a table and create what are the bases for the future season. So, there is nothing extraordinary about the sporting director of a team going around and having contacts. It seems to me that it should be done and Ausilio knows how to do it with great experience.”
