MotoGp, Yamaha: Fabio Quartararo vents, Maio Meregalli explains
Low mood in the Yamaha house
Fabio Quartararo is approaching Sunday’s race in Austin in a low mood, to say the least: ‘El Diablo’, due to a crash, finished the Sprint Race at the back of the field and continues to be far from satisfied with the grip of his Yamaha.
“I feel frustrated, of course, because the speed was there,” the Frenchman told his team’s official channels, “but when we race on the track against others I can’t do much. We have to stay calm but we also have to find improvements as soon as possible. I didn’t crash because I took a risk in the Sprint, maybe I took a chance on braking but that’s where I can make up some ground. Hopefully we can take a step forward in the coming weeks and races. As for the race, we will need to start well otherwise there will be little we can do.”
On Yamaha’s situation, Maio Meregalli also spoke, again to the team’s official channels: “The Sprint Race did not give us the result we expected,” said the Yamaha MotoGp technical director. “It’s a pity, especially for Fabio, he had made a good start and was racing along with the best. He did everything he could to stay in the top positions, but when you ride at 110 percent a mistake can happen.”
