Silvio Berlusconi is no longer in intensive care.

Silvio Berlusconi left the intensive care unit of Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital later on Sunday. This was confirmed by the ‘AGI’ news agency. The Monza patron had been in the ward since last April 5, when he was hospitalized for a lung infection due to chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.

According to Sunday’s ‘AGI’ news agency, Berlusconi was transferred to an ordinary inpatient ward. Here he will remain constantly monitored to follow the evolution of the lung infection that forced his hospitalization. Already in previous days there had been reports of steady improvement after difficult days.

Alberto Zangrillo had signed a medical bulletin last Monday, April 10. “In the last 48 hours there has been a progressive and steady improvement in monitored organ function. Cytoreductive, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory therapies are producing the expected results, allowing us to express cautious optimism. President Silvio Berlusconi remains hospitalized in the intensive care setting,” the statement read.
