Benedetta Pilato: “It’s been an ugly few months.”

Benedetta Pilato chases away the ghosts and wins the 50 breaststroke at the Riccione Absolute in Riccione, snatching the pass for the World Championships in Fukuoka. The Azzurra to Rai after the success spoke about the complicated moment she is experiencing, “I am happy, a pass I wanted at all costs, if not in the 100 in the 50.”

“I took away a satisfaction, a month ago I didn’t even know whether to participate or not,” Azzurra explained. “I’m confident, these races have given me some serenity, we’ll see. I have always said that it is others who create expectations compared to us athletes, for me it has always been like that. These months were bad for me, I wanted more from myself and I couldn’t do it, it made me angry. Now I’m happy, I’m better, and I hope to fix it soon.”
