Lorenzo Musetti candid about Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal: ‘I didn’t want to win like this’
Lorenzo Musetti blunt: “My goal is called the Rome Internationals.”
After Jannik Sinner’s forfeit, Lorenzo Musetti will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. At the microphones of Sky Sport, the tennis player from Carrara wanted to send a message to his compatriot and took stock of his moment of form.
“It was a surprise for everyone this morning. I knew that yesterday at the end of the match his statements had been worrying. The news of his withdrawal came as I was warming up. I’m a little sorry, because this was not how I wanted to take the rematch. Unfortunately, these things happen and I wish Jannik the best and I’m sure he will come back stronger and hungrier than before,” said the Carrara tennis player about the South Tyrolean’s withdrawal.
“Against Tsitsipas I played 4-5 times and always came out defeated, but the same had happened with Djokovic. I think it will be a very balanced match. I will have to try to focus only on myself and my game because it is a great chance to snatch the pass to the finals,” added the Tuscan player.
“My goal is called Internazionali di Roma. I have to try to be consistent on the red in terms of results. The fact that I was not able to participate last year disappointed me a lot. This time I want to arrive at the Internazionali in the best possible shape. Winning it would be my dream in the drawer since childhood,” Musetti concluded.
