Stefano Pescosolido shuts up criticism of Jannik Sinner
Tennis, Pescosolido defends Sinner and consoles Berrettini
During an interview with “OA Sport,” former tennis player and current Sky Sport technical commentator Stefano Pescosolido wanted to take stock of the performance of Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, and Matteo Berrettini in this early season.
“I think anyone who judges Jannik as a loser is a fool. How can you come to such a conclusion with a tennis player who in one month got two semifinals and two finals? The only reason he has not yet been able to win is that he met players on his way, who were in better form at that time. We are talking about great opponents like Alcaraz, Medvedev and Rune, not just any players. I think for a player who consistently gets to the semifinals and 1000 finals, victory is just around the corner,” the commentator said about the South Tyrolean.
Lorenzo has had to face a period of great distrust, but on clay he has shown that he is one of the strongest. I think in Monte Carlo, the win with Djokovic and the loss to Sinner made him realize a lot of things. Probably his style of play will not allow him to be as consistent as Sinner, but he is still very young and has time to improve,” he added on Musetti.
“Unfortunately there are several variables that led to this stop: on the one hand his propensity to get injured and on the other his technical and physical characteristics. I hope he can recover quickly. Berrettini is still young so time is on his side,” concluded Pescosolido.
