Carlos Alcaraz won for the second year in a row the trophy of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell (ATP 500 – prize money 2,722,480 euros) held on the clay of Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899, the oldest club in the capital of Catalonia.

The 19-year-old Murcian, No. 2 in the rankings and the top seed, defeated 6-3 6-4, in just one hour and 18 minutes of play, Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, already beaten twice by Rafael Nadal in the last act on Catalan soil.

After an irresistible rise Carlos Alcaraz in 2022 won his first Grand Slam title, at the US Open. With his victory in the U.S., he gained the top spot in the Atp rankings, becoming the youngest tennis player in history to achieve the feat, at the age of 19 years 4 months and 7 days.
