F1, Villadelprat chastises Leclerc: “Easier to work with Carlos”

During an interview with the Spanish newspaper “El Confidencial,” former Ferrari engineer Joan Villadelprat was blunt about the start of the season for the Maranello-based team and its two drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.

“Leclerc has an innate speed, Sainz on the other hand has to work on it a little bit more to be able to express a certain level of performance,” he said. “In the standings now Carlos is in front, but the balance is constantly changing in Ferrari. His will is to stay ahead of Charles, who is considered number one at Maranello. There is another important aspect that should be considered, but it takes time to recognize it. Carlos works harder and is a very positive asset to the team. He is easier to work with, whereas Leclerc when things are not working tends to put too much pressure on the team.”
