Madrid: Lorenzo Sonego is already out
Madrid to forget for Lorenzo Sonego: the Turin-based tennis player was narrowly beaten in two sets by German Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round of the Masters 1000 being held in the Spanish capital.
A bad afternoon for Sonego, who succumbed 6-3, 6-1 in just over an hour, with as many as 24 free errors and a shaky serve. Struff, who is at his best on clay, will face American Ben Shelton in the second round, while Sonego will lick his wounds and try to get off to the best possible start ahead of the Internazionali d’Italia.
