Matteo Berrettini declares forfeit for Rome

After missing Madrid and Barcelona, Matteo Berrettini has declared through his social profiles that he will not take part in the Internazionali d’Italia, as he has not yet recovered from the abdominal injury suffered in Monte Carlo.

“I clung to the hope of being able to play in Rome, a tournament that means a lot to me and where, probably, all my dreams began. Unfortunately, however, the results of the latest MRI showed that I need at least another week before I can start training physically again.”

“Missing the tournament in Rome is so hard to accept and this is mainly because of you fans. Your support means so much to me and I can’t wait to be able to play in front of you again,” this was the message from the Roman tennis player.
