F1, Lewis Hamilton is lapidary about Mercedes’ competitiveness
F1, Lewis Hamilton bluntly about the potential of the W14
After the first two free practice sessions of the Miami GP, Lewis Hamilton spoke to the press in no uncertain terms about Mercedes’ potential ahead of this weekend. “I hope to put the car in a better position tomorrow, but we were not very fast and we struggled a lot. FP1 went quite well, but the race pace in FP2 was a real punch in the gut. We are trying many things in the hope that we can improve the performance of the W14.”
More optimistic, however, seemed to be teammate George Russell: “In FP2 we did pretty well with the media, but when I put on the Softs, the car didn’t work anymore. For the race there will be a lot of unknowns, while for qualifying I am confident that we can play with Ferrari and Aston Martin. If we make the most of our package, we can stay ahead of them,” these are the words of the former Williams driver.
