Roma, Jose Mourinho unabashed: “That criticism is my greatest joy”
A new controversy in the press conference.
José Mourinho is back in the news. In the minutes after his Roma team’s defeat at the Stadio Olimpico against Inter Milan, the Lusitanian coach followed up his already vitriolic statements made after the Monza draw with more words destined to cause controversy.
“I don’t talk about my colleagues, because I don’t have personal problems with any of them and it would not be correct on my part,” Mourinho explained in a press conference. “After the last game, then, I think I was clear. Never did I question the honesty of the referee, I was saying, however, that in my opinion he has no quality. A referee must be empathetic, like the fourth man today. A great referee, but also empathetic.”
Even harsher were Mourinho’s next words. “I received a harsher criticism than the others. But that criticism was the greatest joy I received,” said the Roma coach. “This is because it came from a person who in the past took three years of disqualification for betting. So to be criticized by such a person gives me joy, because I am sure I come from a different planet.”
