An announcement given indirectly, but with dramatic and all too clear meaning.

Vincenzo D’Amico is fighting a cancer. He made this clear himself, in a message on Facebook in which he decided to make his battle public while not mentioning it directly. “They tell me that cancer patients bring out unexpected strengths, I’m trying!” indeed wrote the former footballer who has become over time one of the best-known sports commentators on Italian television.

Italian champion with Lazio, of whose roster he was part of during the historic 1974 Scudetto, Vincenzo D’Amico made his debut in the biancoceleste in 1971-1972 and left the capital only at the end of the 1985-1986 championship, playing there continuously with the sole exception of 1980-1981 (season in which he wore the Torino jersey). After two seasons at Ternana, he retired in 1988. In RAI since 1999, he participated in countless commentaries and for years showed up on ‘Stadio Sprint’ and ’90° minuto’ as a pundit.
