Giro 2023: Remco Evenepoel regularly at the start of stage 6. And there’s a case for Covid

QuickStep’s Belgian Remco Evenepoel appeared regularly at the start of the sixth stage of the Giro d’Italia, with start and finish in Naples, after two crashes during yesterday’s stage, the first 10 km from the start in Atripalda, the second 3 km from the finish in Salerno.

The world champion suffered a contusion on his right hip and some problems with his sacrum, but these did not prevent him from being at the start. Not only that, on stage he was dribbling with a white and blue ball, the colors of the newly crowned Italian champions Napoli. As a young boy Remco was indeed a great promise of Belgian soccer.

Meanwhile, there is the first case of Covid in this edition of the pink race: Frenchman from Arkea-Samsic Clément Russo, 28, tested positive and had to abandon the race. The announcement came from the team on its social channels: “Clément Russo, who tested positive for Covid-19, will not start the 6th stage of the Giro d’Italia. Good recovery.”
