The words of Leonardo Bonucci

Leonardo Bonucci during a long interview published on Juventus’ Youtube channel heralded his retirement: “When I stop playing next year, an era of defense, of the Italian way of interpreting defense, will come to an end.”

“As a child when you chase the ball you have the dream of wearing a jersey like Juve’s and to succeed 500 times means you have made Juve history and it is a great emotion. Living this jersey was like living for 12 years in a dream and inside me there is always that child who is happy to take the field because it was his dream,” added the Bianconeri center back, who left Inter and returned to Turin after a year to forget at AC Milan.

Juventus is the Italian club that has won the Italian league title the most times, 36. The Bianconeri’s first Scudetto was in 1905 while the first Champions Cup was in 1985, won in the final against Liverpool. After their interlude in Serie B in the 2006-07 season, Juventus won their first Scudetto of nine consecutive in the 2011-12 season: three under Antonio Conte, five under Massimiliano Allegri, and the last one, the one in 2019-20, with Maurizio Sarri on the bench.
