Piero Ferrari has his say on Frederic Vasseur
Piero Ferrari, the son of Drake Enzo, gave an interview to Autosprint touching on many topics, including Maranello-based team principal Frederic Vasseur.
“We need to give him time to get his hands inside the problems, he is a person who knows racing well, he has been in the environment for years, he deserves trust,” said Ferrari, who then added, “We need people who come from different experiences. If we evaluate what happened in the past, we often made changes to bring in new engineers, from rival teams, to become stronger. The results then came. In our case we need engineers in very specific roles.”
But Ferrari also confirms rumors that the house of the prancing horse in the past sought out Adrian Newey, the wizard of Formula 1 single-seater designers: “He spoke with President Montezemolo and then also with Jean Todt, but he did not want to move, given his affections in England. His skills are extraordinary, but around him he has a first-rate staff.”
