F1, Gp Monte Carlo: Carlos Sainz the fastest in first free practice
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz set the fastest time in the first free practice of the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo.
The Spanish driver was the most proficient on the city track and stopped the clock at 1:13.372, ahead of Aston Martin’s fellow Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso and Mercedes’ seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Charles Leclerc was fifth at 7 tenths, ahead of a disappointed Max Vestappen, sixth at 8 tenths.
Also in the Top 10 are Sergio Perez, fourth, Landro Norris, Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll and Alexander Albon, who crashed in the session’s finale.
