F1, Gp Monte Carlo: Max Verstappen ahead in second free practice, Ferrari close
Max Verstappen first in FP2, followed by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz
It was Max Verstappen who set the fastest time in the second free practice session of the Monte Carlo GP. The world champion, at the wheel of his Red Bull, set his fastest lap in 1:12.462, mocking Charles Leclerc by 65 thousandths and Carlos Sainz (first in FP1) by 107 thousandths. Still a satisfactory performance for Ferrari, as both Red Bull drivers were the only ones able to stay within two tenths of Verstappen.
Fourth place for Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), fifth was Lando Norris (McLaren), who finished just ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes and Sergio Perez’s other Red Bull, sixth and seventh respectively. Outside the top 10 was George Russell (Mercedes), 12th. The third free practice and qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday.
