Fernando Alonso stings Lewis Hamilton

Fernando Alonso gave an interesting interview to ‘L’Equipe’ in which he also took a jab at rival Lewis Hamilton, who recently stated how the Red Bull was the best car in recent times, including his dominant Mercedes with which he won six of his seven titles.

“I don’t agree with that. In Arabia I came within 20 seconds of Checo and Max, but in 2014 and 2015 he and Rosberg were a minute behind us. After two or three laps, they would drop performance to save their engines. He has a short memory, he has to get old,” he told the French newspaper.

“With a normal car, you can see that he has weaknesses,” he rejoined, “He used to race against no one, alone or sometimes with his teammate. He is the driver with the most pole positions, and George Russell is 2-0 ahead of him in the standings this season … and he hasn’t forgotten how to drive. This shows how essential the car still is.”
