Lucia Bronzetti earns a chance to win first WTA title
Lucia Bronzetti is in the final in Rabat
Lucia Bronzetti has clinched a spot in the finals of the WTA Tournament in Rabat, Morocco. The tennis player from Romagna dominated the semifinal against Sloane Stephens on Friday afternoon, beating her 6-1, 6-1 in just 62′ of play, and thus centering final number 3 in her career on the women’s professional circuit.
Standing between the Romagna native, No. 102 WTA, and her first laurel is Austrian Julia Grabher (No. 74), who beat Argentina’s Julia Riera in the semifinals. The 24-year-old native of Rimini, who lost the two previous finals played, both in 2022, on the WTA circuit (in Palermo against Irina-Camelia Begu, in Vancouver 2022 against Valentini Grammatikopoulou), will aim against the Dornbirn athlete to enrich a trophy case that, at a high level, sees her winning five ITF titles.
However, it is precisely against Grabher that she has a bitter precedent, the final of the ITF Bellinzona in April 2021: a bitterness that Bronzetti will try to forget in Saturday’s final.
