Playoffs scudetto: Milan dominates game-1 with Sassari
EA7 Emporio Armani MIlano literally dominated game-1 of the Scudetto playoff semifinals against Banco di Sardegna Sassari. At the Mediolanum Forum, Ettore Messina’s Olimpia beat Piero Bucchi’s Sardinians 95-72, but at the end of the third quarter they were ahead +30, 78-48, and then increased to +33, 81-48, at the beginning of the last period. Best scorer of the match Johannes Voigtmann with 22 points, to which he added 7 rebounds. Monday night will be game 2, also at Assago.
These are the words of Coach Bucchi: “They played a very solid game. We had to try to hold out a little bit more but I would say they had a great test. In game 2 we will have to try to limit the physical and athletic gas.”
Here instead are Messina’s statements taken from Olimpia’s official website: “We started the series well, with a first quarter in which we defended well and shot very well, moving the ball and with high percentages. Then the team was good at pushing until the end. Unfortunately Paul Biligha got hurt and we won’t have him on Monday, although we don’t know the severity of the injury yet. Shields has a knee pain we will see tomorrow. There is some concern, but we know that Monday will be a different game. As it was last year, we hope for a good approach again.”
