F1, Red Bull: Helmut Marko loses patience with Sergio Perez
It’s shaping up to be a complicated Sunday for the Mexican
For Sergio Perez, it will not be at all easy to get a prestigious position in the Monte Carlo GP scheduled for Sunday. The mistake in qualifying at Sainte Devote compromised the Mexican’s Saturday, who will be forced to start from the last position in the worst of circuits in terms of overtaking chances.
Adding insult to injury, at the microphones of ‘Sky Deutschland,’ was Red Bull’s ‘deus ex machina,’ former Austrian driver Helmut Marko: “When you drive a car like the Red Bull, you can’t not go beyond Q1 – he commented – He made an avoidable mistake, maybe he was thinking too much about the championship. With this kind of car overtaking is impossible here, I don’t think Checo can get further than 13th place.”
Perez is currently second in the championship, 14 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, the world leader. On the streets of the principality, however, the Dutchman will have the advantage of starting from the first position, with the opportunity therefore to stretch in the standings and confirm Red Bull’s internal hierarchies.
