Spain apprehensive for Sergio Rico: fell from horse, is serious
The goalkeeper’s condition causes great apprehension.
Sergio Rico was involved in a serious accident in Andalusia, where he fell from his horse and was later admitted to a hospital in Seville. The PSG goalkeeper, fresh from his newly won title as French champion, is described by Spanish media as being in “worrying” health.
According to reconstructions in the Iberian press, Rico returned to Spain after his PSG team had graduated Ligue 1 champions in Strasbourg. At 9 a.m. Sunday morning, then, he saw his horse collide with another on the run. Transported by helicopter to Seville’s Virgen del Rocio Hospital, he suffered a “major head injury.”
Rico, who is Gigio Donnarumma’s deputy at PSG, also reportedly lost consciousness. Only further examinations, as confirmed by Spanish sources on the scene, will determine his actual condition and course.
