Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo spoke during the program “La politica nel pallone,” broadcast on Rai Gr Parlamento. “Next season we will play 37 competitions on the weekend, with only one midweek round, this is done to protect the players and allow greater recovery for the teams. We will no longer have the winter break, so we will play both the weekend of Dec. 23 and Dec. 30, with a more diluted schedule.”

“On next season’s calendar, it will finally be a more balanced calendar to the extent that we are not forced to compress commitments by no longer having the winter break. The development of the league will be smoother over the nine months, as mentioned with only one midweek round, this will benefit first of all the health of the players and the tranquility of the teams, then undoubtedly the TV show and the spectators,” De Siervo added.
