Tragedy in Colombia
The cycling world mourns the tragic death of German Chaves, 28, and his father, following a crash on the roads of Chocontá, Colombia. Fatal to the two men, who were training on their bikes, was the impact with a van.
As reported by “El Pais,” the two accident victims had been rescued and transported to the Clinica de La Sabana in Chia, but despite the efforts of medical personnel there was nothing they could do.
Chaves was riding for Team Sistecredito: in his career he had won a silver medal at the Colombian Under 23 championships and had recently won the Fusagasugá Clasica, one of the most watched races by cycling fans in Colombia.
