F1, Carlos Sainz bluntly on the Spanish GP
F1, Carlos Sainz is lapidary on Montmeló GP: “For us, it was the worst circuit so far”
Just days after the Spanish GP that saw Red Bull and Max Verstappen triumph, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz spoke bluntly to describe his weekend at his home circuit. “Before the race I was relatively confident, but on the track I had different feelings. I thought that with a perfect race we could get on the podium, but actually the whole weekend was a slow bleed. We are driving at a very high level, but the car still needs to improve,” the Spanish driver told the microphones of “El Largero.”
Next, Carlos Sainz addressed Ferrari’s start to the season: “The year started in a very complicated way. The car that Red Bull has made is one of the most dominant ever and Mercedes seems to have found the right direction. In Ferrari, however, we are not yet where we want to be. We know it will not be easy to catch up with the teams ahead of us, but we will try until the end of the season. Barcelona was the worst circuit of the year for us, and I am angry because I wanted to do well in my home race. Canada I hope will be different.”
