Champions, Adriano Galliani flies to Istanbul and reiterates his wish
Adriano Galliani explains why he will cheer Inter in the Champions League final
For years he has been a proud opponent of Inter, having held important managerial positions at AC Milan, but on Saturday he will instead be an “added fan” of the Beneamata: Adriano Galliani reiterated the concept shortly before his departure for Istanbul to attend the Champions League final between Inter and Manchester City.
The current CEO of Monza, to reporters speaking at Malpensa, explained the reasons for his choice: “It is not that I have become an Inter fan, on the contrary. As an Italian, but also as a former president of Lega Calcio and a longtime manager, I am someone who in the cups has always cheered for Italian teams. Tomorrow’s match is no exception.”
The match between Inter and Manchester City will be played at the Ataturk Stadium, which evokes memories for Galliani that are anything but pleasant: in 2005, in fact, “his” Milan came out defeated on penalties against Liverpool, which was able to come back from 0-3 down to 3-3 in the Rossoneri’s infamous “Six minutes of madness.”
