Daisy Osakue breaks Italian women’s discus record
In Pietrasanta, during the Italian absolute club championships, Daisy Osakue set a new Italian record in the discus throw with a measurement of 64 meters and 57 centimeters.
The Italian woman in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic final had already equaled the record of 63.66 set by Agnese Maffeis and remained unattainable for 25 years: in fact, it was set in 1996.
This result earned the 27-year-old native of Turin a pass for the upcoming World Championships in Budapest from August 19 to 27: the minimum was in fact set at 64.20.
