Jonas Vingegaard wins the Tour of Dauphiné, Stefan Kung the Tour of Switzerland time trial
Jonas Vingegaard won the 75th edition of the Tour of Dauphiné at the end of the eighth and final stage won by Italian Giulio Ciccone. It is the 11th success of the season for the Dane of Jumbo-Visma, who is confidently approaching defending his crown at the Tour de France, where from July 1 he will meet again his great rival, Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.
Vingegaard won the final classification 2’23” ahead of Britain’s Adam Yates and 2’56” ahead of Australia’s Ben O’Connor. As mentioned, Ciccone was the winner of the day in the 153-kilometer Le Pont-de-Claix-La Bastille-Grenoble Alpes Métropole with uphill finish preceding by 23, 33 and 49 seconds just Vingegaard, Yates and O’Connor.
In the first stage of the Tour of Switzerland, the 12.7-kilometer Einsiedeln time trial, home favorite Stefan Kung won, finishing 6 and 10 seconds ahead of Belgians Remco Evenepoel and Wout Van Aert.
