It ended immediately on the seventh lap of Marc Marquez’s Italian Grand Prix. The Honda centaur, fighting for fifth place, went very wide at Turn 15, leaving the line and sliding to the ground.
The Catalan rider, unhurt, made a blatant gesture after the crash and then stormed off, shaking his head at the new zero. Discouragement in the Honda pits as the eight-time world champion returned to the paddock.
Marquez, who started from second on the grid, finished seventh in Saturday’s sprint race.
