Silvio Berlusconi: state funeral on Wednesday

Silvio Berlusconi’s state funeral will be held Wednesday in Milan Cathedral. Among the dignitaries present will be the head of state himself, Sergio Mattarella. The coffin of the former Milan president will be transported to Villa San Martino in Arcore, while the funeral chamber will instead be set up at Mediaset’s Studio 20 in Cologno Monzese on Tuesday.

This is the condolences of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: “I learn with deep sadness the news of the death of Silvio Berlusconi, founder and leader of Forza Italia, a protagonist of long seasons of Italian politics and republican institutions. Berlusconi was a great political leader who marked the history of our Republic, affecting paradigms, customs and languages. I would like to express my condolences and solidarity to his children, all his family members, his party, and those who were closest to him in life and in his last battle against illness, fought with courage and exemplary optimism.”
