NBA Finals: Denver wins Game 5 and is NBA Champion
First NBA title for Colorado franchise
Denver is NBA Champion. Ahead 3-1 in the series, the Nuggets managed to impose themselves also in Game 5 (94-89), at the end of a challenge in which Miami did everything to try to still stay in the race. Decisive was the usual Jokic who ended the match with 28 points and 16 rebounds. For the Nuggets this is the first NBA title in their history (after 47 years of waiting).
Butler raises the white flag. Impalpable in the first three quarters, he lit up in the last period (13 points out of 21 total) but unable to stop Jokic and his teammates. The Serbian crowns his incredible season and a stellar postseason with a well-deserved Finals MVP title. In the postgame, Jokic commented on his first NBA ring this way, “The job is done, now we can go home…. They are a great team, a fabulous team and I have a lot of respect for them.”
