Italy on the field, from Roberto Mancini dedication to Vialli: “I always think about it”
The dedication to the late great friend dominates the eve of the game.
Roberto Mancini thinks of Gianluca Vialli on the day before Italy returns to the pitch for the Nations League. In fact, the Azzurri coach spoke to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport,’ explaining what it will mean for him to take the helm of the national team again for the first time since the passing of his historic teammate in his Sampdoria days.
“I always think about it, and it’s like he’s always here with us,” Mancini said about Vialli. He then went on to talk about Spain, his Italy’s next opponent: “Against them matches are always difficult. They have numerous players of great quality, who can change while maintaining the same quality of play.”
However, the signs around Italy, according to the coach, are good. “For the second time we are reaching the final phase of the Nations League, and this is good,” Mancini said. “Also because ours is a difficult group and our team is composed of very young guys. The renewal phase is already under way, as we played the Euro 2024 qualifiers with new players.”
“We are changing, we will present ourselves at the European Championships having changed a few things,” Mancini concluded.
