A historic achievement, and a particularly difficult one at that.

Novak Djokovic returns to Roland Garros 2023, which represented the historic achievement of the 23rd career Slam. The success that allowed him to surpass Rafa Nadal’s record, however, did not come without problems for him. And coldly the Serbian outfielder himself candidly admitted it.

“I’m at a stage in my career where every Grand Slam I manage to win has the same value as five Grand Slams a decade ago,” Djokovic confessed in an interview for ‘Tennismajors.’ “And this victory in Paris has great significance for me, Roland Garros in 2023 was the hardest Grand Slam of my entire career. I have never struggled so much.”

“On this surface I have experienced years of great highs and great lows. I’ve had brilliant matches, while others have been horrendous. And winning my No. 23 Slam in Paris gives me even more satisfaction, because for me winning Roland Garros represents climbing an even steeper and more complicated mountain than any other,” Djokovic added.
