Giacomo Agostini defends and praises Marc Marquez

MotoGp, Giacomo Agostini no-nonsense on Marc Marquez: “For me he remains a number one”

During an interview with the microphones of “Eurosport,” multiple motorcycle world champion Giacomo Agostini was blunt about the results and criticism received in this early season from Marc Marquez.

“Marc for me remains a number one, he has done great things and remains the only one who always gives a show. I spoke with him and unfortunately he told me that he is aware that he is riding over the limit, but without taking all those risks with the current Honda he would be fighting for 15th place. I think he should be applauded and admired because he puts his life on the line to put on a show, to chase victory and to ride the bike over the limit. He doesn’t deserve all the criticism he has been subjected to this early in the season,” said the 15-time MotoGP champion.

Later Agostini wanted to address the recent innovations introduced in MotoGp: “I don’t like all these electronics because it takes so much away from the rider. Even the engineers say that it is very difficult to ride these bikes without the help of this new technology. I think some power should be taken away, because the show is made by the tussle. You don’t need 300-hp beasts, I think you can manage to provide great entertainment for the public even with 150-hp bikes.”
