Lorenzo Musetti surprised himself
With a two-set victory (6-3 6-3) over French tennis player Gregoire Barrere, Lorenzo Musetti reached the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 in Stuttgart, earning his second career victory on grass. “Today I played great tennis and showed that I can also play very well on grass,” he remarked to ATP microphones after the match, “I managed to surprise myself because I served really well, especially in the important moments. I am very, very happy because Barrere is a very good player. I knew he would be a difficult opponent to beat, but I expressed a high level of play.”
“He always plays very flat shots, which are not easy to handle. I also tried to use the slice a lot to vary my shots. He made a mistake on the last break ball and I was good at taking advantage of it. I was able to take advantage of his errors; I think that was the key to the match,” Musetti continued.
The Carrara tennis player in the quarterfinals will face Francis Tiafoe, executioner of Jiri Lehecka, beaten 7-6 6-4.
