Trieste, new gm made official: “Step toward rebirth”
Michael Arcieri is the new general manager of Trieste Basketball.
In a note, Pallacanestro Trieste made official the arrival of Michael Arcieri as general manager. “The first step toward the rebirth of Pallacanestro Trieste is accomplished,” said President Richard De Meo, “and this has happened also thanks to the collaboration of Mario Ghiacci, who played an important role in this negotiation.
“For Pallacanestro Trieste, the process of choosing a new GM formally began last April, and included a thorough evaluation of candidates from Europe and the United States, conducted by the full CSG team.”
“During this period, the required profile requirements changed due to the relegation to A2, but with utmost commitment we worked to find, at that point, the candidate who could meet all the objectives, both short-term ones – promotion to Serie A – and long-term ones related to the future of the Club.”
“Michael Arcieri’s proven expertise in Italian basketball is combined with his experience, his resume in the NBA and his desire to build and realize a new vision for Trieste Basketball. Mike’s deep technical basketball knowledge is complemented by his strategic leadership and business skills, making him the ideal candidate for this important phase of the company and the team,” concluded President De Meo.
“Michael Arcieri was born in New York on October 27, 1964 to an Italian-American father and an Italian mother. Arcieri has behind him a long militancy in several NBA franchises: after joining the staff of the New Jersey Nets, where between 1991 and 1993 he served as a scout, Mike gained experience in Dallas, New York, Orlando and then returned to the Knicks, where he had an executive role until 2021, when he signed with Varese Basketball to serve as general manager. Arcieri arrives in Trieste also bringing with him the LBA oscar as best executive in the Serie A for the current season.”
