ATP Stuttgart: Lorenzo Musetti beaten in quarterfinals

In the quarterfinals of the ATP on the German grass in Stuttgart, Lorenzo Musetti, world number 17, was beaten with a score of 6-7 7-6 6-2 by the U.S. Frances Tiafoe, number 12, after two hours and 40 minutes of play.

In the first set Musetti twice went down by a break but recovered from 3-5 to 5-5 and then from 5-6 to 6-6 canceling three set points to Tiafoe, in the tie-break he recovered from 0-3, on 5-6 he canceled another set point but then strung three consecutive points taking home a hard-fought partial.

No break instead in the second set and no minibreak in the tie-break until 5-4 for Tiafoe, when the 21-year-old from Carrara suddenly loses two points on his own serve. So it goes to the deciding partial in which Musetti immediately goes down 0-3 with two breaks, immediately recovers one but immediately loses it again and the match practically ends there.
