Jannik Sinner stops in the quarters in the Netherlands
Jannik Sinner bids farewell to ‘s-Hertogenbosch tournament
No dice for Jannik Sinner, who on the grass of ‘s-Hertongenbosch lost his quarterfinal match played, on the grass of the Dutch city, to Emil Ruusuvuori, who was able to prevail 6-3, 6-4 in eighty-one minutes of play overall.
Rather opaque was the performance of the South Tyrolean compared to his previous outing against Bublik: in the first set he paid for the service game lost at game number 4 and never managed to recover, in the second he stayed in the match until 2-2 but then gave up another game on his own serve and, despite cancelling the first two match points to the Finn, he was unable to avoid the knockout.
For Sinner it is the fourth consecutive tournament without reaching the semifinals: in Barcelona he withdrew before the quarters against Lorenzo Musetti due to injury, in Rome he lost by surprise to Francisco Cerundolo in the eighth round, and at Roland Garros he failed to go beyond the second round, where he was defeated by Daniel Altmaier.
