Gigio Donnarumma and ‘Italy not having fun’: ‘Me exploited’
After the victory comes a clarification.
Gigio Donnarumma tries to definitively reconnect with Italy after the victory over the Netherlands. The success that earned the Azzurri third place in the Final 4 of the Nations League was an opportunity for the goalkeeper and captain of the national team to reiterate his attachment to the team.
“I am absolutely happy when Italy wins. The meaning of my words was obvious, however, someone wanted to instrumentalize what I said and what Acerbi said. But I have no problem, neither with being here nor with taking part in training,” Donnarumma said.
The reference is to what the goalkeeper had said after the defeat to Spain, which cost Italy the Nations League final: “We are no longer having fun like before,” had been Donnarumma’s words. “I was referring to the lightheartedness and fun in playing,” he has since specified.
According to his words, there was, moreover, no misunderstanding with coach Roberto Mancini. “Fortunately, the coach is an intelligent person, so we had a laugh together. Nothing can destabilize us, and we will continue to work hard,” Donnarumma then assured.
