Fiorentina punished by UEFA

Fiorentina has been punished with a fine of 30,000 euros and an away travel ban for its fans for one round: this is the measure taken by UEFA and made official in a statement following the events that took place in Basel outside the stadium last May 18 before the Conference League semifinal return match against the Swiss side.

On that occasion, there were moments of tension between some purple supporters and the police (the communiqué mentions ”lighting fireworks, throwing objects and disturbing the crowd”). Fiorentina itself in the circumstance was also fined 4,000 euros for misconduct on the field.

As for the June 7 conference final in Prague, only West Ham was fined 50,000 euros and another 8,000 for pitch invasion and a ban on selling tickets to its fans for two European away matches. The measure refers to the ”throwing of objects” toward purple captain Cristiano Biraghi, who was hit in the head and had 8 stitches.
