Ferrari, Adrian Newey closes doors for good: his confession
A signature signature that will never make it to Maranello’s court.
Adrian Newey will never work for Ferrari. The brilliant engineer, who for more than 30 years has linked his name to the winning cycles of Williams, McLaren and Red Bull, is closing the doors to the Cavallino for good. In the past his career did not intersect with the Reds for family reasons (his wife did not want to leave the UK), but now according to his own words the motivation seems to have changed.
“My journey has been really special and incredible,” Newey explained to the Brits from ‘Sky Sports F1,’ “My dream was to become an engineer in motorsport. That’s why the most important moment in my career was getting my first job and getting my first salary. Everything else I experience as a bonus, because I feel lucky to have been able to do what I had always wanted to do.”
So the words that definitely close the door on a future at Ferrari. “I love working, but I won’t be able to do it indefinitely. So I say that as long as Red Bull continues to want me, I will go ahead and work. Then everything will end. Wanting to be realistic, there is a countdown that has already started. The only thing I don’t know exactly is when it will end,” Newey added.
