Marco Bezzecchi in pole position, but chooses low profile
Despite the pole, the choice is one of low profile.
Marco Bezzecchi beat Pecco Bagnaia in Assen qualifying, taking pole position just 61 thousandths ahead of the world champion. Great satisfaction for the bearer of Team Mooney VR46, who, however, clearly explained that the bulk of the work is still to be done.
“I felt good – admitted Bezzecchi to ‘Sky Sport’, a few minutes after the Assen pole – For me it was a good qualifying and I’m happy, because at Sachsenring unfortunately I had missed that yellow flag and instead here I took a satisfaction. That’s the way it is, even though qualifying counts up to a certain point. But it is important for the two races, for today’s Sprint and tomorrow’s race.”
Bezzecchi then focused on the choice of tires, saying how it is a decisive detail for the continuation of the weekend in Assen. “For the Sprint I think the choice will be the same for everyone, because the Soft behind goes better. Especially if you run a few laps. The Sprint will also be important to figure out what to do ahead of the actual Grand Prix, since it’s a bit warmer than last year. So the choice is not so obvious,” he explained.
