Stephan El Shaarawy close to renewal with Roma
After those of Chris Smalling and Bryan Cristante, another renewal is on the way at Roma: Stephan El Shaarawy is also close to extending his contract with the Giallorossi club.
According to reports by “Il Romanista” and Sportmediaset an agreement has been reached between the parties for a renewal until 2026 with an option for another year upon reaching certain conditions.
El Shaarawy, 31 years old next Oct. 27, nicknamed “The Pharaoh” because of his Egyptian father, after a two-year stint in Shanghai returned to Roma in January 2021 after previously playing there from January 2016 to 2019.
With the Giallorossi he totaled among all competitions 231 appearances and 58 goals while winning last year’s Conference League.
