Samuele Ceccarelli on the track

Not even time to rejoice, to rejoice, to metabolize a historic success for Italian athletics, that it’s back to the track immediately, with a prestigious appointment in the Gold calendar of the Continental Tour. There will be five Italian athletes competing on Tuesday afternoon at the Golden Spike in Ostrava: one of them, Samuele Ceccarelli, was among the great protagonists of the Italian triumph at the European Team Championships in Silesia.

Just today, Monday, the Atletica Firenze Marathon’s blue sprinter reached the Czech Republic directly from Chorzow, on the eve of a new commitment in the 100 meters, aimed above all at looking for points-ranking to qualify for the World Championships in Budapest, but also to continue in his face-off with the world’s big names. Fresh off a double 10.13 at the Golden Gala (fifth) and the EuroTeams (first), the European indoor 60 champion measures up against other heavy hitters such as South African Akani Simbine fourth in Tokyo (already 9.92 on the season), Canadians Andre De Grasse and Jerome Blake, and Liberian Joseph Fahnbulleh. Start at 6.15 pm, also entered by Slovak Jan Volko and Czechs Jan Veleba and Zdenek Stromsik.
