Wimbledon, Luca Nardi and Giulio Zeppieri’s dream is broken
Three Italians in the decisive round to enter the main draw
Three Italian athletes are still in the running for qualification to the main draw of the Wimbledon men’s tournament: they are Matteo Gigante, Mattia Bellucci and Matteo Arnaldi. Nothing to do for Luca Nardi and Giulio Zeppieri, as well as Federico Gaio, who came out defeated in the very derby against Arnaldi.
7-6(5), 6-4 was the score in favor of Arnaldi, number 78 in the ATP ranking, who will face Portugal’s Frederico Ferreira Silva in the final round. Gigante, on the other hand, defeated Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-4, 6-4 and will play for qualification to the main draw against Frenchman Harold Mayot, while Bellucci got the better of Raphael Collignon, also with 6-4, 6-4 partials, and will play the deciding round against Swiss Dominic Stricker.
Nardi, on the other hand, was defeated by an old fox of the grass like Taro Daniel, 6-3, 6-3, while Zeppieri did not need a good start against Lucas Pouille, who was able to prevail 6(4)-7, 6-3, 6-3.
