Virtus Bologna, Weems ready to stay in Italy
The 1989 class played for four years with the Black Vs.
After four star seasons, with a Scudetto and an Italian Supercup won, Weems said goodbye to his beloved Virtus Bologna. He would have liked to end his last season differently but was forced to watch his on-court teammates lose, after seven games, the LBA Finals: “The coach decided to go with a different kind of roster. But I didn’t complain to the good Lord. Everything happens for a reason,” his words to the Springfield Daily Citizen.
Weems is very grateful to Italy, so much so that he has no plans to go anywhere else: “I’m close to a deal in Italy in Serie A. I just changed agents. There are still some things to iron out but it looks like I will stay in the Italian first division but I’m not sure where yet.”
The former Missouri State University almost 34-year-old is still capable of making a difference on the field. Wherever he goes, he will bring his great experience and undeniable talent that Virtus Bologna has enjoyed for so many years.
