Austria qualifying, Max Verstappen attacks track limits rule
“Today was difficult because of the track limits. We don’t do it on purpose, but with these high-speed corners and turning at such high speeds, it’s hard to judge where the white line is exactly.”
After taking pole position in the Austrian GP Max Verstappen lashed out (rightly) at the track limits rule. “That’s why so many people,” added the Red Bull Dutchman, “have been punished for going over the limits. It became a fight for survival. In the end we had to manage and that takes some of the joy out of qualifying. But I’m still happy with the pole.
“The weekend, however, will be very long. We know that this weekend is special because of the format. I’m happy with today, but tomorrow everything will be different. The car is fast, that’s the important thing.”
