Paolo Bertolucci harsh on Jannik Sinner: “Now there’s an abyss.”
Paolo Bertolucci in an interview with Fanpage.it spoke about Jannik Sinner, rejecting a comparison with Carlos Alcaraz, who has been unreachable in these complicated months for the Azzurro: “Carlos Alcaraz is a phenomenon, so if one compares himself to him, it is like a footballer comparing himself to Maradona. Sinner is a top 10 player, who with experience will go up again. The difference between Sinner and Alcaraz is one Slam and two Masters 1000s, we are talking about 4,000 points. It is abysmal.”
“Since Monte Carlo he has lost to inferior players,” Bertolucci continued, “which never happened before. Lately there is little ‘boom boom’ , the ball walks less. Being that he is a small computer, this fact that he has learned but not yet automated certain solutions, sets off a siren. The smile? It’s not like I’ve ever laughed much — but then again, the smile comes when you win games. When there are hiccups, you’re gloomy inside and that leads to lower performance.”
