Wimbledon: immediate derby between Berrettini and Sonego, tricky first round for Sinner and Musetti
Wimbledon, the pairings of the Italians in the first round
Pairings for the Wimbledon Tournament, the third slam of the season and the only one on grass, were drawn on Friday morning.
The first round of the men’s tournament will immediately offer a tricolor derby, that between Matteo Berrettini and Lorenzo Sonego in the top, the one with Carlos Alcaraz main seed. In the lower part, the one with Novak Djokovic, are Jannik Sinner, who will face Argentina’s Juan Martin Cerundolo (younger brother of Francisco, who eliminated the Alto Adige player in Rome) and Lorenzo Musetti, who instead will face Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas. Two tricky opponents, both stable in the top 100.
Also in Wimbledon will be Marco Cecchinato, who will play against Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the first round, while Matteo Arnaldi, coming from the victorious qualifiers, will contend for passage to the round with Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, a very complicated opponent on paper.
